This explanation is about how the brain and nervous system work. Your brain is one of the most important parts of your body, it has over 1 billion nerves inside it. There are quite a lot of different parts to your brain, here are some of them. Your cerebrum helps you walk, talk, think and other things like that. Another part is your thalamus which helps you see, here, smell and feel. The next helpful part is your brain stem which connects to your spinal cord and it also helps your heart beat, it helps you breath and it surprisingly helps you to digest. Going down you back is your spinal cord, it is sort of like a highway for your nerves, your nerves travel up and down it at the speed of 200 mph. Your brain controls the centre of your nervous system. Your nerves can make you feel hot and cold water so you don’t get burnt. I’m glad I’ve got a brain!
Hi I'm Nicole and this is my page!
All About Me
I LOVE going to school to do tests and play my friends, Sophie, Niamh, Hannah, Patricia, Libby and Grace at lunch-time. After school on Thursdays I go to treble lessons (type of recorder) to play my treble.
My favourite animals are dolphins, cats/kittens and bunnies. My favourite foods are watermelon and pineapple and I am 10 years old, eleven this year. In my family I have two brothers, one sister, a cat, a dog and two parents.
The animals that I don't like are spiders, sharks and snakes and the food I don't like is dark chocolate, fish and chocolate fish. In the holidays I normally go to Picton in Easter
and Taupo in the summer.
Thanks for reading all about me!
In maths I am suitable up to a d level
Kapiti Island
Kapiti Island
Rocky beaches, nature grows
Birds everywhere
Sea-shells on the shore
Drift-wood floating in the sea
Tall trees shelter me.
